Wholesale RV trading has a geography problem.
The best unit for your lot is usually sitting on someone else’s five states over. The unit you can’t sell here would fly off the lot somewhere else. But the phone tree, the regional auction, the “guy I know”, none of it scales past a few ZIP codes.
So inventory gets stuck. Small dealers pay too much for units they could have bought cheaper. Big dealers sit on excess they can’t shake loose. Both leave money on the table, every week.
We knew that because we lived it.
Why we built Backstock
Backstock was founded by an RV dealer who got tired of the fax-era workflow that still governs wholesale in this industry. Not a tech company that wandered in. Not a VC thesis. A dealer who wanted a better tool, couldn’t find one, and built it.
The goal was simple: take the wholesale conversation that used to happen between two dealers who happened to know each other, and make it available to every verified dealer in North America.
